Pentecost!

Pent-choir2Trinity celebrated Pentecost on Sunday, May 24th with a colourful choir singing an anthem! We also gathered for a great “Sparks” discussion of the future of the Faith Adventures and Youth programs in our church. Go to our Image Gallery to see more pictures from the day!

Next week, May 31st, is Music Sunday when the Trinity Choir and Handbell Ensemble will perform a variety of works. After worship, we will gather to hear more about what it means to resettle refugees in our community. Join us! All are welcome.

Spark Sunday!

As we celebrate the Holy Spirit’s tongues of fire descending on the gathered faithful on Pentecost, we hope to spark some interest in children’s education ministry at Trinity and ignite some new enthusiasm for faith formation among our younger members.

Matt Ramer will continue his fine children’s messages at worship — and incorporate a thanksgiving to our Faith Adventures teachers during this 2014 – 2015 program year.

After worship, Faith Adventures will gather for singing with Nathan and the youth before they meet with their teacher.

Meanwhile, all young and older adults, as well as parents and grandparents are invited to gather in the Martin Luther Room to reflect on our ministry to our younger members. We’ll explore what’s been happening and why. We’ll dream dreams and envision visions about how to engage younger members and their families in our ministry of faith formation.

It’s a Holy Spirited Sunday opportunity not to be missed!

Brunch for Burma!

burma posterTrinity is eagerly awaiting the arrival of our sponsored Burmese family currently living in Ban Mai Nai Soi Refugee Camp in Thailand.  Preparations to welcome them continue and most of the household items needed have been collected.  A fundraiser brunch will be held in their honour at the Thai Coconut Island Restaurant in Cambridge on May 31, 2015 at 2p.m.   Tickets are $30 and only a few remain for this delicious meal and this wonderful opportunity to support a young family seeking refuge in our midst.  Call (519) 662-9573 to reserve your seat!

Refugee Resettlement Project Update

Rick&Jenn2Refugee Sponsorship
The Katie Luther Room has begun to fill up with household items and furnishings donated by the parish. In addition, we are happy to receive financial contributions, above and beyond normal offerings, to support a family from Burma that we will soon receive into our community. For these contributions, please mark “Burma” on your envelope or cheque.

The family is currently living in a refugee camp in Thailand. The father, 31, mother, 26 and son who is three, need to do a required medical before they can proceed into the next stage of transfer to Canada. Meanwhile, the Refugee Sponsorship Task Team subgroups are hard at work on tasks ranging from finding housing, preparing for health care and investigating learning the new language. Stay tuned for more news as it unfolds.
