Marriage is a gift of God, intended for the joy and mutual strength of those who enter it and for the well-being of the whole human family. God created us male and female and blessed humankind with the gifts of companionship, the capacity to love, and the care and nurture of children. (Evangelical Lutheran Worship, page 286)
As a couple makes their promises of love and faithfulness for life, the church gathers with them to rejoice, support and pray God’s blessing upon them.
The church office should be contacted at least six months before the planned wedding date. The pastors will meet with the couple during that time to talk about the meaning of marriage, the hopes, dreams and challenges of sharing a life together and to plan the marriage worship.
